Summary

Using data from the Survey on the Official-Language Minority Population (SOLMP), this research project will provide an updated portrait of the linguistic situation of Fran-cophone minority communities, nearly 20 years after the analysis conducted by the Ca-nadian Institute for Research on Linguistic Minorities (CIRLM) using the 2006 Survey on the Vitality of Official-Language Minorities (SVOLM). The project will result in an open-access edited volume covering a range of topics, including immigration, the la-bour market, geographic mobility, arts and culture, media, health, community participa-tion, sense of belonging, perceived vitality, early childhood, and education.

The health chapter will examine the language used to communicate with healthcare pro-fessionals, the importance individuals place on receiving healthcare services in French, and the perceived difficulty of obtaining those services.

Comparative analyses will also be conducted across population subgroups (youth, wom-en, older adults, and immigrants), among Francophone minority communities, and be-tween the two post-censal surveys to document changes in their linguistic situation over time.

Let's bring science and communities together to improve equity, access, and quality of care in French in all minority situations across Canada.
