Summary

Pharmacists are generally highly accessible to patients and play a key role in health care delivery. However, no study has documented active offer of pharmaceutical services in French in Canada. A recent study revealed that, although pharmacists have limited knowledge of the concept of active offer in the pharmaceutical context, the majority are in favour of it. However, active offer behaviors are rarely observed in pharmacies in Ontario.

The majority of pharmacists surveyed indicated that training would help them better understand and apply active offer in their practice. This need becomes even more important in light of recent legislative changes to the scope of practice of pharmacists. To date, there is no specific training on active offer in the field of pharmacy

Project objectives

  • Design a training module on active offer adapted to the pharmaceutical context, to complement that of the Réseau du mieux-être francophone du Nord de l’Ontario.
  • Pilot this module with a sample of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students.

Let's bring science and communities together to improve equity, access, and quality of care in French in all minority situations across Canada.
