Abstract
Canadian studies show that language barriers, such as those experienced by Francophones in minority situations, can lead to inadequate assessments, misdiagnoses, delays in treatment, misunderstanding of care, and loss of trust in services. These issues are particularly concerning for seniors living with neurodegenerative diseases (ND), who often face poor-quality care transitions.
In this context, it is essential to integrate linguistic and cultural dimensions in order to better support their engagement in these transitions. To improve the quality of life of older adults with ND and their caregivers in Francophone communities, we aim to scale up knowledge tools that facilitate optimal care transitions throughout their journey.
This initiative will help strengthen health equity and the well-being of these vulnerable populations.
