Summary

This study aims to analyze and deepen the understanding of midwifery care in Northern Ontario, as well as to collaborate in the co-construction of sustainable solutions to ensure its long-term viability.
The specific objectives are as follows:
  • To describe the characteristics, locations, and outcomes of people and newborns who have received midwifery care in this region;
  • To gain a deeper understanding of the lived experiences of clients and midwives regarding care in Northern Ontario;
  • Using the data collected, to develop, in collaboration with key stakeholders in the region, recommendations aimed at supporting the sustainability of the profession and promoting equitable and culturally safe midwifery care.
(Sub-analysis focusing on access to midwifery care for Francophones)

Let's bring science and communities together to improve equity, access, and quality of care in French in all minority situations across Canada.
