Summary

Active offer (AO) is a key element in improving access to health services for Francophone minority communities (FMCs). However, according to Bouchard et al. (2009), new health professionals, even those trained in French, do not always feel they understand issues regarding AO or how to apply it in their practice. It is therefore essential that healthcare settings continue supporting these professionals to ensure the provision of quality services to FMCs.
Many established professionals did not receive training in AO during their studies, particularly if they studied in English-language programs or at institutions not affiliated with the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS). Other professionals trained in French may have completed their studies before AO training was integrated, or may have stopped practicing AO after having worked in settings where active offer of French language services (FLS) was not fostered.
In addition, interprofessional collaboration (IPC), leadership, and advocacy skills are essential for raising awareness among English-speaking teams about the needs of FMCs and for strengthening the provision of FLS among interprofessional teams.
Therefore, this project aims to adapt and implement AO training through interprofessional simulations (IP SIMs) and to ensure this training is maintained over time. These resources will raise awareness of AO among practionners and fill the gaps for professionals who have not been previously trained.
